SHAWN WASABI

Shawn Michael Serrano, professionally known as Shawn Wasabi, is an American artist, composer, and record producer from Salinas, California.

Known for his colorful, high-energy mashups and innovative live performances, Shawn first gained global attention through his viral YouTube videos, which have collectively amassed hundreds of millions of views. He also is known for his own original artist music as well as his work producing music for other artists as well as for film and TV.

Classically trained on piano from a young age, Shawn began producing music in 2013. He would eventually co-invent the Midi Fighter 64, a custom 64-button MIDI controller designed for high-performance live sampling. Originally developed as a prototype built specifically for him, the device later entered mass production and became a staple tool for digital performance artists. His creative approach to live mashups quickly caught the attention of audiences online, combining playful visuals, complex sampling, and virtuosic performance into a style uniquely his own.

In 2015, Shawn released his breakout video “Marble Soda,” an intricate mashup featuring samples from 153 different tracks. The video surpassed one million views within 48 hours of release and helped cement his reputation as one of the most innovative musicians on the internet. He would later release many other videos displaying his virtuosity and his innate ability for social virality. Shawn’s debut studio album, Mangotale, was released in 2020, showcasing his signature blend of pop, electronic, and experimental production.

A frequently in demand producer for others, Shawn has worked with a wide range of artists including Cynthia Erivo, eaJ, Jennie and Jisoo (of Blackpink), JIHYO (of TWICE), Kid Cudi, The Rose, Rose Gray, Royal & the Serpent, Saweetie, and Tiesto. He achieved his first Billboard Top 40 production with KATSEYE’s “Internet Girl,” which debuted at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2026.

Shawn also produced music for several upcoming Dreamworks movies, confirmed releases with artists such as Bea Miller and Rose Gray, as well as his own artist releases.
